What is in a teardrop?

Mucin, Glucose, Immunoglobulins, Lacritin, Lactoferrin, Lipids, Lipocalin, Lysozyme, Potassium, Sodium, Urea and Water.

Scientists have successfully compiled a list of 12 elemental components that makes up the composition of a teardrop. Yet, how often do we truly comprehend our tears? Does the reality in which we exist allow us the time and space to invest energy in our emotions?

This work is part of 12 abstract landscapes that recalls the account of shedding tears. Experiencing moments of emotional isolation, I often would involuntarily burst out in tears. As I navigate this emotional terrain, I also realize that this is a shared experience - especially prevalent among the urban middle class, a demographic facing escalating mental health challenges.
